Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical – humor, pathos, love, anger – are communicated through words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Although musical theatre overlaps with other theatrical forms like opera and dance, it may be distinguished by the equal importance given to the music as compared with the dialogue, movement and other elements. Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, musicals.

Chicago is a 1975 American musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Set in Chicago in the jazz age, the musical is based on a 1926 play of the same title by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, about actual criminals and the crimes on which she reported. The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice and the concept of the "celebrity criminal".

The original Broadway production opened in 1975 at the 46th Street Theatre^[1] and ran for 936 performances, until 1977. Bob Fosse choreographed the original production, and his style is strongly identified with the show. It debuted in the West End in 1979, where it ran for 600 performances. Chicago was revived on Broadway in 1996, and a year later in the West End.

The 1996 Broadway production holds the record as the longest-running musical revival and the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. It is the second longest-running show to ever run on Broadway, behind only The Phantom of the Opera. 

Chicago surpassed Cats on November 23, 2014, when it played its 7,486th performance.^[2] The West End revival became the longest-running American musical in West End history. Chicago has been staged in numerous productions around the world, and has toured extensively in the United States and United Kingdom. The 2002 film version of the musical won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

As we toast to mother nature,

we recycle our love and our beliefs,

the enchanting moments of life,

the sparkling light of eternity.

May the wisdom of our souls,

become the torch for all times,

where we find only beautiful thoughts,

it is the welcome of the Creator who shines.

When night is calling for a brighter day,

beyond the words, beyond the stars,

it is an encounter with ancient Truth,

Les Misérables (/leɪ ˌmɪzəˈrɑːb(lə)/; French pronunciation: [le mizeʁabl(ə)]), colloquially known as Les Mis or Les Miz (/leɪ ˈmɪz/), is a sung-through musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's 1862 novel of the same name, by Claude-Michel Schönberg (music), Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel (original French lyrics), and Herbert Kretzmer (English lyrics). The original French musical premiered in Paris in 1980 with direction by Robert Hossein. Its English-language adaptation by producer Cameron Mackintosh was running in London between October 1985 and June 2019, making it the longest-running musical in the West End and the second longest-running musical in the world after the original Off-Broadway run of The Fantasticks.

Set in early 19th-century France, Les Misérables is the story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his desire for redemption, released in 1815 after serving nineteen years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister's starving child. Valjean decides to break his parole and start his life anew after a bishop inspires him with a tremendous act of mercy, but a police inspector named Javert refuses to let him escape justice and pursues him for most of the play. Along the way, Valjean and a slew of characters are swept into the June 1832 Rebellion in France, where a group of young idealists attempt to overthrow the government at a street barricade in Paris.

¡ Si una espina me hiere, me aparto de la espina,

. . .  pero no la ¡  aborrezco ! Cuando la mezquindad 

envidiosa en mi clava los dardos de su inquina, 

esquivase en silencio mi planta, y se encamina

hacia más puro ambiente de amor y calidad.

¿Rencores? ¡ De qué sirven ! ¡ Qué logran los rencores !

Ni restañan heridas, ni corrigen el mal.

Mi rosal tiene apenas tiempo para dar flores,

y no prodiga savias en pinchos punzadores :

si pasa mi enemigo cerca de mi rosal,

se llevará las rosas de más sutil esencia ;

y si notare en ellas algún rojo vivaz,

                                                                            AMADO NERVO  (1870-1919)

Amado Nervo (Tepic —en el Distrito Militar del mismo nombre desde 1867 hoy Nayarit—, 27 de agosto de 1870¹​-Montevideo, 24 de mayo de 1919), cuyo nombre completo era Amado Ruiz de Nervo Ordaz,²​ fue un poeta y escritor mexicano, perteneciente al movimiento modernista. Fue miembro correspondiente de la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, pero no pudo serlo de número por residir en el extranjero.³​

Poeta (autor, también, de novelas y ensayos) al que se encasilla habitualmente como modernista por su estilo y su época, clasificación frecuentemente matizada por incompatible con el misticismo y tristeza del poeta, sobre todo en sus últimas obras, acudiéndose entonces a combinaciones más complejas de palabras terminadas en «-ismo», que intenta reflejar sentimiento religioso y melancolía, progresivo abandono de artificios técnicos, incluso de la rima, y elegancia en ritmos y cadencias como atributos del estilo de Nervo.

El sonoro nombre de Amado Nervo, frecuentemente tomado por seudónimo, era en realidad el que le dieron al nacer, tras la decisión de su padre de simplificar su verdadero apellido, Ruiz de Nervo. Él mismo bromeó alguna vez sobre la influencia en su éxito de un nombre tan adecuado a un poeta.

Since the early 20th century, musical theatre stage works have generally been called, simply, musicals.

The Phantom of the Opera is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (who co-wrote the libretto alongside Richard Stilgoe) and lyrics by Charles Hart. It is based on the 1910 eponymous French novel by Gaston Leroux.

The plot revolves around a beautiful soprano, Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, masked musical genius living in the subterranean labyrinth beneath the Paris Opéra House.^[1]

               Nueve Meses

Naciendo cada día, como el Universo,

nos entusiasma ver el rostro sereno,

al respirar y encontrar al Creador en tí,

dando su mensaje a través de cada célula . . . 

Es la comunión natural y divina,

aleja lo artificial y disfruta la esencia,

permite brotar ese instante, puro y eterno,

sin tener a tu alrededor falsos egos. . . 

En el Arte, la Ciencia, la Filosofía,

la Música, la Poesia y el Turismo,

hay tanta Luz, Verdad y Amor,

FILOSOFIA - Biografía - Swami VIVEKANANDA

 

                Swami VIVEKANANDA

                        1863  -  1902

Fue el nombre monástico que recibió Narendadranath Datta al ingresar en 1880 en el ashram de su Maestro Ramakrishna. Era de la casta Kshatriya y recibió en Londres una educación occidental muy cientista de acuerdo a su rango social y no hinduista. Pretendió cristianizar a la India de acuerdo al movimiento social Brama-samaj, pero su encuentro con Ramakrishna lo hizo virar de propósitos hasta convertirse en uno de los discípulos más amados de él.

El siguiente párrafo de una obra de Romain Roland retrata magistralmente a VIVEKANANDA : "Su fuerza y su belleza, la gracia y la dignidad de su cabeza, la luz oscura de sus ojos, su andar imponente y la espléndida música de su voz cálida y profunda, sometieron a la multitud de aquellos anglosajones de América, predispuestos contra él por sus prejuicios de color. Y el pensamiento del guerrero profeta de la India dejó marcada su garra en los flancos

de los Estados Unidos."

Ojalá que todos aquellos que miran hacia la India como lugar de salvación para una vida mejor, buscaran en VIVEKANANDA el ejemplo, el estímulo y la verdadera sabiduría de un pueblo que esconde Su Luz entre un manto de prejuicios que ha tendido sobre la civilización blanca occidental.

VIVEKANANDA cuando regresó nuevamente a Occidente en 1893 llevando su mensaje, no fue turbado en su empeño y logró conquistar, en lugar de ser conquistado por el absorbente materialismo el puesto de pionero predicador de los cultos y devociones del hinduismo. Al principio de su breve carrera, Vivekananda se propuso propagar el mensaje de Su Maestro propugnando que todas las religiones pueden unirse a través de Los Maestros de cada una de ellas, pero terminó por hacer reconocer al Induismo como la única religión que une a los hombres, porque todas las otras separan y confunden a los hombres entre sí.
